Qualifications 

- Commissioner of Van Buren County, District 1, two terms. Taking office when the county was nearly broke, as an experienced accountant and manager Tom played a major part in building reserves that allowed the county=s credit rating to be upgraded twice. 

- Western Michigan University, 1991. Master of Science in Accountancy, with honors. 

- Owner of accounting firm for more than 17 years. Tom had as many as five employees, contributing to Michigan’s economy through payroll taxes every month. 

- South Haven Area Habitat for Humanity: Eight years as president. 

- South Haven Area Chamber of Commerce: Five years as board member. 

- Van Buren County Mental Health Department: Board member. 

- South Haven Jay-Cees, Michigan Maritime Museum, South Haven Center for the Arts, We Care in the Name of Christ, Knights of Columbus: Active for 30 years in these charitable groups. 

- St. Basil Church, South Haven. Active in church functions, including finance committee for 20 years.
